Don't be afraid to say 'No'

Something very pivotal took place in my life this weekend and I feel it is relevent to share it with you guys... Last month I made the decision to leave my job in London and move back in with my parents (a terrifying ordeal for any 20-something year old) and although 100% the right decision for me, it didn't come easy. Moving away from my boyfriend has been difficult and as we approach the three week mark, it's certainly not getting any easier. Anyway... I saw myself at the receiving end of a potential job opportunity, presenting me with the chance for moving back in with him sooner than expected and instantly, I was excited! I text my friends, I told my parents, hell, even I even started packing my bags (okay, that was lie. I didn't go that far)! But you get the point... So there I was, faced with this proposition and then all of a sudden, it hit me! I don't want this. What the hell am I doing? I made a promise to myself that I would follow my dream and u

Welcome to the month of love

February is finally here and with it, we say goodbye to those pesky January blues and hello to the month of love. I, for one, have had a rollercoaster of a January. Wednesday marked my last day at work and next week I officially move myself and all my belongings out of London, ready for my next adventure (whatever that may be). Needless to say, I hate packing and decided to take a much needed break; thus here I am, writing my next blog post whilst eating a KitKat (chunky, in case you were wondering). So what is on the agenda this week? BOOK PLANNING! A lot happens between thinking up a new idea and taking pen to paper, so to speak and although I'm sure this process differs for every individual, I'm going to talk you through some of the Do's and Do Not's of book planning from my personal experiences. I have been writing for two years now and while some may consider that no time at all, I've still learned a great deal from my many mistakes and hope that by

Ever been told your imagination is too wild? Are you constantly falling victim to daydreaming? Have you ever held a ten minute conversation with yourself? If yes, DO NOT panic! Our minds are weird and wonderful tools, engineered to do some truly fascinating things and you, my friend, are not crazy. You are simply a writer (whether you know it yet or not). Congratulations and welcome to the club! Ok...so there is no club, not really but you are most certainly not alone and I’d like to talk you through one thing I think is vital to every aspiring author, either currently writing or thinking about writing. Of course, there is no right or wrong way to go about creating your story and you can take what I say with a pinch of salt. After all, I am not a professional and have yet to take the book industry by storm. Key word being “yet”. Your time will come and so will mine, which brings me nicely on to today's topic. SELF BELIEF.  If you don’t believe in your work, no

~Biscuits ~Tea ~Books ~Scented Candles ~Musical Theatre. As Julie Andrews once famously said, these are a few of my favourite things and while they are hardly raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, they're certainly special to me. (100 house points for those who got the musical theatre reference). Anyway... Welcome to my blog, primarily focusing on book related topics and thank you for giving it a chance. As an aspiring author of the well known genre romance, I decided to give blog writing a go and thus, here I am! With discussions ranging from writing tips, book reviews and up and coming projects, I truly hope my posts cover things you find enjoyable, interesting and relevant to your own work. I am by no means a professional but like to think I know what I'm talking about and with that, hope to inspire you on your own writing/ reading journey (whatever that may be). Feel free to comment below a few of your favourite things and let me get to know YOU , the am
